PRESENTATION DETAILS
A simultaneous fit of (all) GRO J1008-57's spectra
Presentation duration: 15 minutes
Presenter: Matthias Kühnel
Parallel computing and steadily increasing computation speed lead to a new tool for analyzing X-ray spectra of accreting neutron stars: simultaneous fitting of a complete dataset of an outburst. We discuss the terminology and implementation based on the Interactive Spectral Interpretation System (ISIS). Applying this tool to the transient X-ray binary GRO J1008-57 we find that the spectrum is defined by the X-ray flux only. Using this technique, time independent parameters such as, e.g., detector calibration constants can be determined with previously unachievable precision.
