PRESENTATION DETAILS
FACT - monitoring of bright TeV blazars
Presentation duration: 15 minutes
Presenter: Katja Meier
The First G-APD Cherenkov Telescope (FACT), located on the Canary Island of La Palma, is taking data since October 2011. FACT has been optimized for the long-term monitoring of bright TeV blazars, to study their variability time scales and flare probability. The G-APD photo-sensors allow for observations even under strong moonlight conditions, and the telescope can be operated remotely. In the presentation, the monitoring strategy of FACT will be discussed and preliminary results including a flare of Mrk501 in June 2012 will be presented.
