Metal enrichment of the Intar-cluster medium
Presentation duration: 15 minutes
Presenter: Markus Haider
We present cosmological hydrodynamical simulations of galaxy clusters aimed at studying the dynamical and chemical evolution of the intra-cluster medium (ICM). Our setup uses an N-body code to simulate the dark matter distribution from which we generate a background potential. Galaxy properties are calculated using a semi-analytical galaxy formation model and the evolution of the intra-cluster medium is modelled via a grid-based hydrodynamics code. To study metal enrichment, we model two transport mechanisms from the galaxies into the ICM, galactic winds and ram-pressure stripping. This setup allows us to investigate the metal enrichment history of the ICM, the importance of the transport mechanisms and to trace the distribution of single elements in the ICM.
