Recent Progress with Lobster Eye X-Ray Telescopes
Presentation duration: 20 minutes
Presenter: Rene Hudec
Several wide-field Lobster Eye X-Ray optics modules based on the Multi Foil Optics technology (MFO) in Schmidt arrangement were designed, developed and tested together with efforts on detector selection. This makes the space experiment based on this technique feasible with goal of wide-angle and sensitive sky monitoring. More recently, several proposals including Lobster Eye X-Ray monitors based on the MFO technology have been considered including ESA Cosmic Vision proposals, pico-satellites, and rocket experiments. A balloon experiment with Earth atmosphere X-ray imaging represents another option, with the goal to study the X-ray emission above thunderstorms and Polar Regions.
