Segmented slumped glass optics – activities at MPE

Presentation duration: 20 minutes

Presenter: Monika Vongehr

The segmented slumped glass optics concept for future X-Ray telescopes is founded on the indirect slumping technique. At MPE sheets of D 263T borosilicate glass of thickness of 0,55mm were slumped into complete Parabola + Hyperbola Wolter I segments using porous ceramic moulds at a temperature of 620°C. The segments have been integrated to a mounting to measure their optical performance in X-Ray at PANTER test facility. In addition, they were mounted into a representative mechanical structure to carry out environmental tests as vibration and acoustic noise tests.
