Development of adjustable grazing incidence X-ray optics

CfA and PSU (along with Grinell) have made significant progress developing adjustable grazing incidence optics. For the first time, we have demonstrated the deposition of thin film piezoelectric material on flat glass test mirrors. We have demonstrated the energizing of the piezo cell produces a localized figure change that is reasonably consistent with finite element modeling predictions. These, and other, results will be discussed.
