The successful  last year meeting lead to a wish to arrange the second international workshop on astronomical X-ray optics with the hope to organize this meeting of leading world's scientists in the field of advanced X-ray optics for future X-ray astronomy missions and astrophysical aspects of X-ray telescopes/satellites regularly each year, reflecting the needs of astronomical X-ray optics community.

Registration is by invitation only due to limited seating in Vila Lanna, but if you are really interested in this event, please contact LOC rene.hudec [at] gmail.com

This year's workshop is held in the second week of December, from 6th to 9th, starting on 6th late afternoon with the welcome cocktail.

The goal of the workshop is to present and to discuss recent and future technologies for future X-ray astronomy missions, with emphasis on IXO of ESA/NASA/JAXA. These missions require development of mostly innovative technologies, and we want to discuss the possibilities, the results obtained so far, and new ideas in detail. It is obvious that the requirements of future large space X-ray astronomy missions are se demanding that they need a truly interdisciplinary approach in a wide international collaboration. The technologies will include X-ray optics based on Si wafers, advanced glass forming for precise X-ray optics, but also other possible technologies, as well as related advanced metrology, measurements and tests.

45 participants from several countries are expected to participate and to discuss recent and future technologies for future X-ray astronomy missions such as IXO of ESA/NASA/JAXA and Generation X by NASA.

The workshop is followed by IXO TWG meeting on Dec 10th (participation for  IXO TWG members only). Upon agreement with IXO TWG chairs, the talks on IXO related technologies of general interest will be scheduled for the last day of the AXRO workshop (Dec 9th) .

We are looking forward to seeing you in Prague.

Best Regards,

The Local Organizing Committee
