We study linear polarization from the Thomson scattering of light on a cloud with relativistic electrons. We derived simple and general analytical formulae for the frequency-integrated Stokes parameters describing local intensity and polarization of the scattered radiation. These formulae are then used in calculations of the temporal evolution of the observed light from the cloud moving under combined influence of the radiation and gravitational fields in the vicinity of accreting black holes. Under suitable geometrical conditions the observed radiation can be significantly contributed by higher-order images arising due to gravitational bending of light rays. Possible targets are super-massive black holes or Galactic microquasars exhibiting episodic accretion/ejection events
