The goal of the workshop is to present and to discuss recent and future technologies for future X-ray astronomy missions such as IXO/XEUS of ESA/NASA/JAXA and IXO/Constellation X and Generation X by NASA These missions require development of mostly innovative technologies, and we want to discuss the possibilities, the results obtained so far, and new ideas in detail. It is obvious that the requirements of future large space X-ray astronomy missions are so demanding that they need a truly interdisciplinary approach in a wide international collaboration. The technologies will include X-ray optics based on Si wafers, advanced glass forming for precise X-ray optics, but also other possible technologies, as well as related advanced metrology, measurements and tests.

In addition we plan to have one session focussed on astrophysical aspects of X-ray telescopes/satellites in which some review talks from leading scientists in this field will be given plus some presentations of relevant Czech scientists. The emphasis will be given at the astrophysical aspects of future large X-ray astronomy missions. Martin Elvis and Giuseppina Fabbiano serve as the two co-chairs of the Gen-X Science Team. The Gen-X team has 4 science sub panels spanning all of astrophysics. We expect to invite the panel leaders to talk on the enabling power of Gen-X is each of these fields.

The workshop will be held just after the Czech Republic has joined the ESA as a full member (on Nov 12th, 2008), enabling full participation of Czech Institutes in IXO and further projects of ESA.

You can download a press release in czech language here.
